Vulnerability in Microsoft Web Servers Print E-mail

A new flaw that could possibly put websites in harm's way in being investigated by Microsoft, and they have issued an advisory for the vulnerability. The affected OSes are: Windows XP Professional SP2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. The root of the problem lies within the OS's handling of code in the Internet Information Services (IIS) and SQL Server.

Recently a hacker took advantage of a vulnerability in Barack Obama's website that, when users attempted to visit his site, they would be redirected to Hillary Clinton's website. The exploitation would occur when users were trying to view the Community Blogs section of senator's Obama's site and took advantage of an XSS vulnerability.

Apple Fixes CanSecWest Hole Print E-mail

The vulnerability that won Charlie Miller $10,000 and a Macbook in the "PWN to Own" contest held in late March in Vancouver, B.C. at the CanSecWest security conference has been plugged by Apple in their latest update for Safari version 3.1.1. The update also addressed several other vulnerabilities as well.

A vulnerability in WoltLab Burning Board has been discovered by Jessica Hope. Successful exploitation of this error could result in the leakage of sensitive information and could also allow for susceptibility to XSS attacks. This vulnerability is exploited remotely and has been rated as "less critical."
